  Escuela Sumak Allpa

Su Sigrist and William Papke recently visited the jungle school Escuela Sumak Allpa on the eco-reserve island Sumak Allpa.  The island is home to a primate restoration project.  Su and William brought back pictures, tea, and video to share as well as stories of the children, the flora, fauna and indigenous peoples who live along the Rio Napo in the Amazon.

The children enjoyed all the new story books in Spanish we brought for them, including Harry Potter!

The students were amazed at what they saw under the microscope we purchased with donations for the school.  Even the parents took turns looking, and were giggling over the slides.

One of the seven endangered species of primates in the restoration project on Sumak Allpa.  This is a Golden Mantle Tamarind who was very friendly.
